This weekend started off busy yesterday! I was up at 6am yesterday, got ready and then "ran" to the gym to meet Sam (my brother) there at 7am when it opened. I burned 112 calories on my run there, then did 40 minutes of weight lifting (man I am sore today!) and burned about 150 calories then I did 16 minutes on the elliptical and burned another 212 calories! By then end of the day I finished 300 calories under my goal. I just couldn't eat anymore! And that includes going out to lunch and eating cookies as a bedtime snack!
Today I slept in - I am hoping to go for a jog later today though. Tomorrow morning my mom is picking me up at 5:30am to go for a long bike ride on the Oatka Trail. I have never been on it but she says it is her favorite place to ride her bike. I think it is about 16-18 miles! That will be my longest ride yet. I'll update after it!

31:02
I did this mornings run in 31:02, following the same path. It wasn't much faster than last time, but you know what? I felt better doing it. And I also think I could have pushed myself a little harder. Right now my first goal is to walk/jog the 2.37 miles in under 30 minutes. I think within 2-3 weeks I should be able to do that, definitely. I hope. Then I need to work on increasing my distance. One thing at a time!
I lost another 2 lbs! I am down to 200 on the dot - at least that is what the scale was telling me this morning. I will weigh myself again in a couple days and if it still showing that (or lower!) I will count it. My next goal is for my size 16 jeans to fit well. Right now they fit, but I feel fat in them because they fit tight. So I want them to fit loose. I don't know what to do about clothes though. Before, all my jeans were to small on me. Now they are all getting too big and they fall off as I wear them. I don't like belts, but I may have to get over that and buy one. I don't have money right now for a new wardrobe. When I get to size 14 I will buy myself a couple of pairs of pants that fit. But I own a full, nice wardrobe is size 10/12 that I really need to be able to wear again! And of course, if I ever get smaller than that I will treat myself to some new clothes! I hate clothes shopping when I am fat, but actually really love it when I feel like I look good in what I try on! Plus, I hate shopping in plus sizes, so I just avoid it. :)
Yesterday I took the day off of working out, but I still ate within my calorie goal. I was going to head to the gym in the evening to do some strength training, but once I had Natalie in bed (8:30) I was too tired. Plus, if I went then I probably wouldn't have felt like getting up early this AM to work out. So Lenny convinced me to just stay home (minus going out to buy diapers) and go to bed early. My plan is to get up around 6:30 tomorrow morning and get in a good full workout at the gym. I think I will jog to the gym (1 mile), then do weights, tan and then run home. That should be a good work out. I have to be home by 8:30 or so for Lenny to get to work on time.
Then tomorrow morning (after all that!) Natalie and I are going to drive to Niagara Falls to meet up with my friend Jessica, her husband Mike and their son Carter. He was a preemie as well - I met Jessica online on my preemie support group. I am excited for our play date! We are going to hit up the falls, eat lunch and go to the Aquarium. Hopefully it won't decide to rain!

My Shoes!
Girls love shoes. Right? Most girls have shoes, or multiple pairs of shoes for every occasion. Not me. I'm just not that girl. Let's see... I own 3 pairs of flip-flops (my go-to shoe!), 1 pair of cute sandles (black), 1 pair of black boots, 1 pair of regular sneakers, and my running shoes that I bought about 3 weeks ago. That's it.
I think the most I have ever spent of a pair of shoes was those running shoes. They cost me $110, and the best investment I have made yet into my running. I love them! I had never even heard of Brooks before I went into the store Fleet Feet. I went with my sister Katie, mostly because I was a bit intimidated to walk into a running store 80lbs or so overweight, and to tell them I was looking for a pair of running shoes. Well it wasn't nearly as terrible as I had imagined it would be and it was actually a really good learning experience! Katie got a pair too, but she won't be able to do much running because of her botched foot surgery. Never again will I run in a pair of $50 sneakers from Kohls.
They had me jog on a treadmill for about a minute and they taped my feet as I ran. They were seeing how I land on them. It turns out that I land on the outside and roll my foot in. They have special shoes with added support on the outside so that it resists me landing wrong. I think it helps a lot, because since then I have had hardly any pain at all while running. And they are so comfortable! A cute purple color too. I should really take a picture to share. They say you should replace them after 6 months or so, depending on how many miles are on them. I think you can put about 500 miles into a pair of running shoes before they start to wear out too much. At the rate I'm going, I should be able to wear them for quite a while. :)

Can't post from phone?
Apparently I can't post from my phone. I wonder what happened to my post from yesterday. LOL I wrote a long post from my Blogger App, and it has disappeared. Well, yesterday I got up early (5:20!) and went to the gym. I wanted to go there to do some strength training. So I did 1/2 hour on the weight machines and some free weights focusing on my arms, then instead of jumping on a cardio machine, I decided to go tanning. :) I thought it was well deserved. So I got in no real cardio yesterday, but oh well.
Today I also got up early and did the same jog as the last 2 times. This time I finished it in 31:09, but it was .04 miles shorter than the last time, so I'm not really sure how that would work out for time. I think it must have been slightly faster for the 2.38 miles. I'm going to keep at it, my goal is to run the whole thing. I'm sure once I can do that in a reasonable time I will be able to run a 5k.
The past 2 days I completely stayed inside my calorie range. Yesterday I was like 14 under or something for the day. :) It was hard yesterday since I didn't have any exercise calories that I could eat. But my hard work is starting to pay off slightly again - I weighted myself this morning and I lost another 2lbs. Finally seeing the scale moving!

I did it for the day!
It's 7am and I already got in some exercise for the day! Like I said I would, I set my alarm for 5:20 this morning. When it went off I seriously contemplated re-setting it for 6:45 when I would really have to be up by, and going back to sleep. So I pushed snooze once, then when it went off again I decided I would get up and go pee, then see how I felt. A banana, a bottle of water and 30 minutes later I was out the door. I followed the same path that I did Saturday morning. Up Ling Road, down Greenleaf to the Parkway Trail, then the Parkway Trail to Dewey and home. It makes a nice little loop for me. If I don't count my cool down time, it 2.38 miles exact. Saturday I did it in 32:49 minutes. Today I did it is 32:00 exact. So I shaved off 49 seconds! It's not much, but a little at a time should do the trick!
I think my plan is (but my plans change a lot!) to keep going this same route and try and get faster at it by increasing my jogging time and decreasing my walking time on it. Eventually I will be able to jog the whole thing, and then when I can do that - I should be able to do a 5K! At least that is how my brain is figuring this out. :) Haha It feels great to have it done! Now I just want to see the numbers on the scale going down, down down. So far I haven't lost anymore weight. :( I have been on track with my calories though, so if it doesn't start changing soon I will have to make some more changes to my plan. I know that I need to be doing more weight training, it's just that the place to do that is the gym for me and it is so hard to get there in the evenings. Maybe if I got the motivation to wake up a little earlier I could go there one morning instead of my outside "run". Now it's time to start the rest of my day!

Good Intentions
Today was one of those days that I had good intentions of going to the gym or going for a job, and it just never happened. I set my alarm for 6:30am and this morning when it went off I didn't want to get out of bed. :-/ I figured I would go to the gym once I woke up. But then Natalie ended up letting me sleep in until 11am, and then I had too much other stuff to do. None of it ended up being that important... So I should have just gone.
Then this evening I figured I would go for a jog, since the gym closes at 7 on weekends. Then we went to my parents to drop off their car, then grocery shopping and dinner, then the next thing you know it's 9pm and it's time to put babes to bed. So all those good intentions got me no where. Which means I am feeling rahter disappointed in myself today.
I did well on my calories in though! Right now I am 110 under for my daily total (which is 1280?) and I am going to eat a plain ear of corn on the cob. The water is boiling for it right now. I think that gets me right to my goal. And I am setting my alarm for 5:20am tomorrow morning, and hopefully I will drag my ass out of bed and go for a 3 mile "run" before Lily and Josh get here at 7:15. I can do this, I know I can.

Keeping Me Accountable
That is what this blog is for. To keep me accountable in exercising, counting my calories and ultimately losing weight and increasing my physical fitness level. Right now I count calories using the myfitnesspal app on my Android. It has me at about 1280 calories a day to lose weight. I have been seriously keeping up with it for the past 2 weeks or so. Before that I would use it occasionally at best. For exercise I am trying to go to the gym or go for a "run" at least 3 times a week, hopefully more.
"Run" was in quotations because I can't run. I can jog, at best. But before the end of this summer/fall I am going to "run" in a 5K. I haven't picked one out yet - but I need to do that soon. And then get this - by next summer I want to run (not in quotations!) a half marathon! I think I'm crazy for wanting that. But I enjoy "running", and I think I will enjoy running even more once I am better at it!
My favorite time of day to exercise is early morning. Then it is out of the way and I can thoroughly enjoy my day without worrying about when I will ever find time to work out. Having a 1 year old and working full-time takes up most of my waking hours. It gives me one less thing to stress about if I can just get up early and do it. Actually getting my ass out of bed in the pre-dawn hours is the hard part.
This morning I convinced myself to get out of bed at 7am before the kid and hubby were up and go for one of my "runs". For those I have been using the ProSport app on my Droid. I like it because it has every sport possible on there. So it works when I go for a bike ride as well. This morning I went 2.4 miles - in 32 minutes. I am embarrassed by those numbers. Most runners can run a minimum of a 5k in that time. So right now I suck - but as I practice and lose weight I am hoping it gets easier. Weekends are easier to get up early, because I don't have to work bring and early. During the summer it is easier as well to get up early, because I can get up at 5:30, get my workout in and shower and then be ready for the kids by 7:15. During the school year I think it will be next to impossible. I have to be AT WORK at 6:45, and my work is about half an hour away. So I will just take things one day at a time then.
Right now I have a whiny little cutie pie that is wanting my attention.
My totals for the day so far:
Weight (I can't believe I am saying this out loud): 205lbs (down from 238!)
Calories burned: 292
Calories eaten: 241
Water: 6 cups
Calories left for the day: 1270 (or so)
